Working Holiday Visa Information

The Working holiday (417) visa allows for persons between the ages of 18 and 30 from countries with a reciprocal agreement with Australia to work and holiday in Australia for 12 months.

As a working holiday individual you are permitted to stay up to 12 months in Australia (from the date of arrival). You are permitted to do any kind of work of a temporary or casual nature, as the main purpose of your visit is for holiday and travel, you are only allowed to work for up to 3 months with any one employer.

Australia currently has reciprocal working holiday visa arrangements with the following countries: United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Malta, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Cyprus, Finland.

To be eligible to apply for an Australian Working Holiday Visa, the applicant must:

• hold a passport from one of the countries listed above
• be between 18 and 30 years of age at the time of the application
• not be accompanied by dependent children
• have not previously entered Australia on a working holiday visa
• meet the health and characters requirements
• be outside Australia when the visa is issued
